Youth Support Worker (Wednesday evenings)

 

£10 per hour, 4 hours per week

Wednesdays 6pm – 9:30pm, Term-time only.

A rare and rewarding opportunity to work with an awesome group of 16 – 21 year olds.

We are looking for a nurturing, inspiring, and responsible Youth Support Worker to join our youth group for autistic 16 – 25 year olds. The youth group members are independent young people who typically attend mainstream school, college or employment; enjoy attending our youth group for socialising and peer support, and are autistic without a learning disability.

We support and facilitate “the social stuff”; support the young people to participate, organise events and activities; and support the development of social and independence skills.

The post holder will assist the Youth Group Coordinator to run the youth group; support the young people to participate in activities; and assist with organising and attending onsite and offsite activities.

Weekly working hours are Wednesday 6PM  – 9:30PM, Term-time only, plus an additional 0.5 hours per week is provided for planning, or attending periodic staff meetings or training. This additional time may be accrued and used as needed.

Professional experience of working with young people is essential. The successful candidate will be skilled in effectively communicating with young autistic people, modeling and encouraging social skills, participating in social activities; and can work effectively and responsibly using initiative as well as in a team.

A rare and rewarding opportunity to manage a sociable and friendly youth group for awesome 13 -16 year olds.

We are looking for an organised, nurturing, inspiring, and responsible Youth Group Coordinator to lead our youth group for autistic 13-16 year olds. The youth group members are fun-loving young people who typically attend mainstream school, enjoy attending our youth group for socialising and peer support, and are autistic without a learning disability.

We support and facilitate “the social stuff”; support the young people to participate, organise events and activities; and support the development of social skills and friendships.

The post holder will organise and lead the youth group; lead a small team of 2 staff and a group of volunteers, manage the group membership, support young people; and organise onsite and offsite activities.

Weekly working hours are Fridays 6PM  – 9PM, Term-time only, plus an additional 1 hour per week is provided for planning, or attending periodic staff meetings or training. This additional time may be accrued and used as needed.

Professional experience of working with autistic young people in a group setting is essential. The successful candidate will be skilled in effectively supporting and communicating with young autistic people; be very organised; able to lead a small team of 2 staff and a group of volunteers, can model and encourage social skills; participate in social activities, and can work responsibly using initiative.

Casual Support Workers

£10 per hour
Summer and Easter school holidays, and/or term-time occasional evenings and Saturdays to cover our youth groups. Various locations

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Support Workers to support young autistic people aged 8-18 year olds.
Work is flexible and is offered during:

  • Summer and Easter school holidays: Join our team of casual support workers and permanent staff to run our Summer and Easter Activities. Fun social activities during the school holidays. We create a program of fun activities for the children such as video gaming days, horseriding, outdoor play, arts and crafts, laser tag, ice skating.  You will be asked for your availability and be allocated work accordingly. Hours will be Monday – Friday, at various hours and locations.
  • Term-time – occasional evenings and Saturdays: To cover staff at our youth groups. Our youth groups are well established and each group has approximately 16 young people all enjoying our sociable and friendly weekly sessions, led by experienced staff and supported by volunteers. Locations are in Oxford and Wolvercote. 

Professional experience of working with young people in a group setting is essential. It is essential that you can communicate effectively with young autistic people, have strong social skills, are able to participate in play and leisure activities, and can work effectively using your own initiative as well as in a team.
