John’s Epic Walk for Autism!
We proudly present
John’s epic fundraising challenge!
A special message from our supporter John Coates:
As a longterm supporter of AFSO I have decided to
help raise much needed funds by
walking the entire Ridgeway Path
That’s a whopping 87.5 miles
walking 30 HOURS through day and night
starting in Wiltshire, through Oxfordshire, and finishing at Ivinghaoe Beacon, Bucks!
Start: Saturday 29 August, 9AM
Finish: Sunday 30 August, 3PM at Ivinghoe Beacon
I have a special connection with the fabulous charity, as my late mum Sheila Coates was one of the founding members of the charity back in the early 1970’s when I was just a boy. Mum’s vision, drive and pioneering work for autism touched us deeply as a family and her legacy remains today with Autism Family Support Oxfordshire and the creative and caring support it provides to local children, young people and their families.
I’m training hard for this challenge and kindly ask you to support my epic walk. There are several ways you can show your support for me and this amazing charity:
Please help me smash my £1,500 target. ANY donation is appreciated. Simply visit my justgiving webpage:
Join me by doing a small walk yourself!
Why not walk part of the scenic Ridgeway Path yourself and also raise sponsorship for Autism Family Support? Suggested walks and a Sponsorship Form are at the end of this page. In the Vale of the White Horse you can even include the annual Chalking of the Horse event! With any luck I might see you somewhere on The Ridgeway!
Come and cheer me along The Ridgeway!
It would be fabulous to see as many people as possible cheering me on along the way – especially towards my finish line at Ivinghoe Beacon! The Village Swan pub in Invinghoe Aston has even kindly promised me a pint and BBQ! I’m due to arrive at Ivinghoe Beacon at 3pm on Sunday 30 August 2015 – and would love to see you there!

John’s challenge has already involved a LOT of hard training, pain, worn out boots, and being chased by cows! I’m sure you agree… he deserves to smash his target of £1500!
Come and greet and congratulate John at the Ivanhoe Beacon OR at The Village Swan, Ivinghoe Aston
John is due to finish at Ivinghoe Beacon at 3pm on Sunday 30 August. He will then head to The Village Swan pub in Invinghoe Aston for a well deserved pint! The pub will be serving a BBQ in the evening.
